Basically, if you have not installed an extension, you should remove it from your web browser. Click the Chrome menu button, then select Settings and click on Manage search engines in the Search section. In the Search Engines dialog that appears, select Google and click the Make Default button that appears in the row. Search for Search the web Softonic in the Search Engines list, and click the X button that appears at the end of the row.
Change Google Chrome homepage from search. Conduit has modified your Google settings to open their webpage whenever you start your browser, so we will need to revert this change.
Remove Softonic Toolbar with AdwCleaner The AdwCleaner utility will scan your computer for Softonic Toolbar malicious files and registry keys, that may have been installed on your computer without your knowledge. You can download AdwCleaner utility from the below link. If Windows prompts you as to whether or not you wish to run AdwCleaner, please allow it to run. When the AdwCleaner program will open, click on the Search button as shown below. The program will now start to search for Softonic Toolbar malicious files that may be installed on your computer.
When it has finished it will display a notepad screen that contains a log file of all the Travelocity extensions, files, and registry keys that have been detected. To remove the Softonic Toolbar malicious files that were detected in the previous step, please click on the Delete button on the AdwCleaner screen. AdwCleaner will now prompt you to save any open files or data as the program will need to reboot the computer.
Please do so and then click on the OK button. If Windows prompts you as to whether or not you wish to run Junkware Removal Tool, please allow it to run. When the scan Junkware Removal Tool will be completed, this utility will display a log with the malicious files and registry keys that were removed from your computer.
On the Scanner tab, select Perform quick scan , and then click on the Scan button to start searching for the Softonic Toolbar malicious files. You will now be presented with a screen showing you the computer infections that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware has detected.
Make sure that everything is Checked ticked , then click on the Remove Selected button. When the program starts you will be presented with the start screen as shown below. Click on the Next button, to install HitmanPro on your computer. If yes, delete them off. Even if they are just a apps that you do not use, then deleting them off will increase your PC start up time and speed dramatically. Press Windows button , then click Search. It will open the Windows Control Panel as on the image below.
Scroll through the all list, and delete any questionable and unknown apps. If your Firefox web browser is redirected to Softonic ads or an unknown search provider opens results for your search, then it may be time to perform the browser reset.

Close the IE and reboot your PC system for the changes to take effect.
If the undesired Softonic ads opens automatically on Windows startup or at equal time intervals, then you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and remove all the tasks which have been created by adware. Press Windows and R keys on the keyboard simultaneously. This opens a prompt that titled as Run. Task Scheduler window opens. In the middle part you will see a list of installed tasks. Please select the first task, its properties will be open just below automatically.
Next, click the Actions tab. Pay attention to that it launches on your PC system. If you are not sure that executes the task, check it through a search engine.
If it is a component of the malicious software, then this task also should be removed. Having defined the task that you want to get rid of, then click on it with the right mouse button and choose Delete as shown on the image below. Repeat this step, if you have found a few tasks that have been created by the Softonic adware.
Once is done, close the Task Scheduler window. Manual removal is not always as effective as you might think. Often, even the most experienced users may not completely remove Softonic adware that developed to display unwanted ads.
So now that the toolbar is installed, you can see it in Safari, as well as this little Alerts Bell that appears in my Menu Bar. And the tragedy was that, that I noticed that bell after uninstalling that toolbar. Plus after the uninstallations my Safari started to freeze hang like never before. Thanks to your lead, I figured out a simpler method. Inside, you will find the Uninstall application, just double-click on it Open. If you are in the office, like me, with a password on your user profile, it will ask you for your password to make changes to the system.
